Our Classes

Our in-person classes are designed to accommodate each student’s learning style, interests, and schedule. Whether you choose a group class or private lessons, quality always comes first. Group classes typically include 5–8 students, allowing for individualized attention and detailed corrections.

Beginner:

We focus on building a strong foundation for your Tai Chi journey. Students develop balance, strength, coordination, and a calm, focused mindset. Many notice positive changes within just a few classes. A short bare-hand routine is introduced at this stage.

Intermediate:

Students learn medium and long Tai Chi routines—both bare-hand and sword—and begin transitioning from external form to internal energy.

Advanced:

Training deepens through traditional long routines, applications, and partner work such as push hands to explore energy, structure, and martial principles.

Private Lessons:

Private sessions (1:1 or 1:2) offer the most personalized and efficient learning experience, ideal for students seeking focused guidance or accelerated progress. Students may choose the material they wish to study.

All students receive access to our comprehensive video library, which includes the material covered in class to support continued practice at home.

Beginner

These classes are designed for students with little or no prior Tai Chi experience. We take a patient, supportive approach, dedicating extra time to developing strength, balance, coordination, and mindfulness. This foundation not only enhances overall well‑being but also prepares you for more advanced Tai Chi training if you choose to continue.

In this program, we focus on the short routines of Yang‑Style Tai Chi. For students who prefer a gentler pace with more repetition and guidance, Level A is the ideal starting point. Level B moves at a slightly quicker pace and may be better suited for those who are ready for a bit more challenge.

Intermediate-Chen style

This class is designed for students who are inspired by the dynamic, powerful qualities of Chen‑Style Tai Chi. Many participants have already completed a beginner program or bring prior Tai Chi experience from other settings and are ready to deepen their practice in the next phase of learning.

In this course, we explore both the hand form and the sword form of Chen‑Style Tai Chi. Students are also introduced to the distinctive internal energy that defines this lineage—Silk‑Coiling energy—which cultivates spiraling strength, rooted movement, and integrated body‑mind coordination.

Intermediate-Yang style

This class is designed for students who appreciate the graceful, elegant, and meditative qualities of Yang‑Style Tai Chi. Many participants have already completed a beginner program or bring prior Tai Chi experience from other settings and are ready to progress into the next stage of their practice.

While the beginner level emphasizes learning the external structure of the movements, the intermediate level begins to explore the internal energy that gives the form its depth and vitality. In this class, we study the Yang‑Style Essential Form as well as the Yang‑Style Sword, helping students develop refined body awareness, fluidity, and energetic understanding.

Advanced

This class is designed for students who wish to pursue a deeper, more comprehensive level of Tai Chi study. Our focus is on exploring each form in detail—its structure, applications, and the refined use of various Tai Chi energies. Partner work, including Push Hands, is an integral part of the training, helping students develop sensitivity, responsiveness, and practical understanding.

In this program, we also study the traditional Yang‑Style Long Form (the 85‑movement routine), allowing students to experience the full breadth and richness of the style. To further support advanced learning, we regularly discuss Tai Chi classics and foundational theories, integrating traditional wisdom with hands‑on practice.

1:1 Private Lessons

Private lessons are an excellent option for students who thrive in a one‑on‑one setting and want to make the most efficient use of their time in the studio. Instruction is fully personalized—content, pace, and focus areas are tailored to support each student’s individual goals.

Students play an active role in shaping their learning path, and we continually monitor progress to refine and adjust the training as needed. This approach ensures a highly effective, responsive, and meaningful Tai Chi learning experience.

1:2 Private Lessons

These classes offer the same personalized attention as one‑on‑one private lessons, but with the added enjoyment of learning alongside a partner or family member. This 1:2 format provides an ideal balance between individualized instruction and the motivating energy of shared practice, making the learning experience both effective and fun.

Special Programs

We offer these programs to make Tai Chi accessible to individuals who may face scheduling, transportation, or other constraints that prevent them from attending classes at our studio. Our outreach includes team‑building events and ongoing classes hosted at libraries, retirement communities, fitness centers, and corporations that prioritize the physical and mental well‑being of their patrons, residents, and employees.

All sessions can be customized—frequency, content, and scheduling—to meet the specific needs of your organization and create a meaningful, engaging Tai Chi experience.

Class Schedule

We offer both group and private lessons at our studio located at 80 Walters Brook Dr, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

We recommend attending at least one class per week. Each level is offered on multiple days to give you flexibility, and the same material is generally covered across classes of the same level each week.

Within each level, “A” classes move at a slightly slower pace, while “B” classes progress a bit faster, allowing students to choose the pace that suits them best.

Private lessons are available by request and can be scheduled as 1:1 or 1:2 sessions for more personalized instruction.

We regularly adjust our group class schedule to best meet the needs of our students.

What People Are Saying

“Master Gang is truly a gem of a Taichi teacher — the kind that is rare to find. He has a deep mastery of both the anatomical mechanics and the philosophy behind Taichi, combined with a highly trained eye for spotting and correcting students' mistakes. For me, that made a huge difference in my Taichi journey. In almost two years of learning with him, I feel I finally started to grasp the foundational principles of Taichi practice — something that had felt elusive before.” - Gozda (Current student)

“Gang Huang is both a master of tai chi and a masterful teacher, which has allowed me to bring the joy of tai chi into my life. Learning from him is so much more than a class about the mechanics of forms. Instead, he brings a true understanding of the experience, which gives much more meaning to what these movements represent. I highly recommend Gang Huang to anyone wishing to learn tai chi, at any age or fitness or experience level. (I wish I could give this rating more than 5 stars!).” - Denise (Current student)

“Even the simplest movements I learned early on have made a real difference. I now look forward to each class. I find myself naturally incorporating Tai Chi into my daily routine—relaxing my upper torso, shifting weight into my lower body, or bending my knees to relieve pressure on my lower back. These small changes have significantly improved how I feel physically, and that’s positively affected my mental outlook as well.” - Henry (Current student)

“I want you to know how much I enjoyed your class this past Sunday! Your ability to convey information and patiently demonstrate your techniques was outstanding. During that brief session, I was able to release the tension in my lumbar area so much that my chronic low-back pain is almost entirely gone & I’ve been practicing every day since then. I say the pain is "almost" gone because I hesitate to be too optimistic; I've actually felt NO pain since Sunday! It's important for me to add that this is no small accomplishment. I've been a massage therapist for 30 years and work with some outstanding chiropractors. I've received treatments from them and several excellent massage therapists and have gotten some relief but never to the extent I have felt since your class. This reinforces my belief that the greatest power to heal is within ourselves and I am very much looking forward to next Sunday’s class!.” - Fred (Former student)

“Gang Huang is an excellent instructor, and I feel fortunate to have found him. He teaches not just forms and movements, but also the wisdom and philosophy that inform the practice of Tai Chi. If you give it your full effort, the class can be very challenging, but each student is encouraged to advance at their own pace. Gang offers a great deal of personal attention and creates a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. I especially appreciate the way he makes everyone, of any age, fitness level, and experience feel welcome. I find myself looking forward to class each week and leaving with a feeling of renewed energy and well-being.” - Tamar (Current student)

“Because I was unable to continue my daily walks, I decided to “seek” Tai Chi for exercise and stress relief. I’ve been taking weekly in-person instruction for about four months and I try to practice every morning utilizing the videos provided. Thankfully, my agility, balance and also my state of mind have improved since starting Tai Chi. Gang Huang is a highly skilled and knowledgeable teacher for whom I have the utmost respect. I especially appreciate the kindness and sense of calm he brings to every session. Also, the tranquil design of his studio makes me feel like I’m definitely in the right space. Thus far my Tai Chi journey has been enjoyably enriching and I am looking forward to many more enlightening lessons during the coming year.” - Beverly (Former student)
