Happy Mid-Autumn Festival, everyone! 🌕✨

Tonight we celebrate one of my absolute favorite traditions—the Mid-Autumn (or Moon) Festival. Rooted in over 3,000 years of history, this beautiful holiday falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, a time when the autumn moon is said to be at its brightest and most spectacular.

Historically, it was a time for ancient farmers to give thanks for the autumn harvest, but today, it’s deeply focused on reunion and connection. The roundness of the full moon symbolizes togetherness, completeness, and families traveling from far and wide to gather. It’s also deeply tied to the enchanting legend of Chang'e, the Moon Goddess, who floated to the moon after drinking an elixir of immortality, accompanied by the Jade Rabbit. 🐇🌙

To spread the good wishes to my students and friends, I’ve been busy in the kitchen whipping up my very own homemade mooncakes! 🥮 Nothing brings people together quite like sharing food, and crafting these by hand makes them feel extra special.

Wherever you are tonight, I hope you get a chance to step outside, look up at the bright moon, and feel connected to the ones you love.
